Series: Cats management on small islands

Episode 1: Preventing the introduction and spread

April 11th

4:00pm (UTC+2)

Recently, cats have been considered invasive species due to their strong impact on biodiversity. This decision has provoked a lot of reactions from the general public. This shows how essential it is to raise awareness among the inhabitants in order to make them understand the dangers of predation by this species and its role in the fragile prey-predator balance. The introduction of cats on islands is all the more problematic. Biodiversity is often particularly fragile and rare there. The introduction of cats can thus lead to irreversible imbalances. In this episode, we will talk about how to raise awareness, how to limit and control the introduction of cats and solutions to limit their impact when they are already present.
