Vetiver, restoration of a degraded coastal site

Renaud Leroux

This educational film illustrates the involvement of ASSO-MER (Martinique) in the restoration of a degraded coastal site, addressing various issues: use and safety of the site for the human population and accessibility for sea turtles that come there to lay their eggs. This film tells the collaboration between ASSO-MER, the municipality of Case-Pilote, the Martinique National Forestry Office, and the Case-Pilote primary school.

SYNOPSIS

In order to help protect sea turtles, ASSO-MER, an environmental association, is coordinating a project to restore a degraded coastal area and is involving students from the local elementary school.

BIOGRAPHY

With a background in Marine Biology (Master’s degree) and Environmental, Nature, and Wildlife Audiovisual Studies (Master’s degree), I have been living on the island of Martinique for 10 years. I direct and produce communication films for various sectors: biology, science, marine archaeology, diving, as well as sports, water sports, and construction. My clients include institutions, associations, and private companies. I am particularly fond of photography and videography. I am a certified civilian drone pilot and scuba diver, qualifications that allow me to film in all environments. I often join teams for assignments in Martinique or other Caribbean islands, and I recently had the opportunity to collaborate with the Natural History Museum and the DRASSM (Department of Underwater Archaeological Research). My main goals are to popularize and share scientific knowledge with the general public. My participation in Echoes of the Shores aims to help people understand the environment and environmental issues. Ecology is at the heart of my concerns. I have always been a naturalist and a diving instructor in a club, helping others discover the underwater world that has always fascinated me.
