The Advisory Committee of the CEPF provides guidance and recommendations to the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), supporting the creation of a coherent portfolio of projects in the Mediterranean Basin in accordance with the investment strategy. The CEPF is a joint initiative of the French Development Agency, Conservation International, the European Union, the Global Environment Facility, the Government of Japan, and the World Bank. The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is designed to conserve biodiversity in hotspots—areas that are both the most biologically rich and most threatened. The primary goal is to ensure that civil society is engaged in biodiversity conservation. The Advisory Committee helps develop long-term, multilateral partnerships between other initiatives, donors, and key stakeholders in the region; to replicate and maintain the vision of the Mediterranean Ecosystem Profile, during and after the CEPF investment in the region.
